Change Teams file behavior

By default, when opening Office files (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) in Teams, those files appear in a web browser within the Teams window. This can be changed to instead open files in their respective applications. To do so, follow the steps below

In Teams, select Settings and more  > Settings  > Files and links.

Under Always open Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files in, choose Teams, Desktop App, or Browser

In Teams Settings, choose your file open preferences under Files and links.
