How to Map A Network to Taylor Shared Files - University Common (Windows)

For all university owned computers, shared network drives should already be available as the U: drive.


On a personally owned computer, you can map a network drive using the following steps:

Map a Network Drive

  1. Open File Explorer.   This can be opened from the taskbar or the Start menu, or press the **Windows logo key ** + E.
  2. Select This PC from the left pane. Two Ways: 
    1. On the File Explorer ribbon, select ComputerMap network drive.
    2. Right Click This PC > Click 
  3. In the Drive list, select a drive letter. (Any available letter will do.)
  4. In the Folder box, type the path of the folder or computer or select Browse to find the folder or computer. 
    1. \\filesrv.campus.tayloru.edu\UniversityCommon
  5. Select Finish.
  6. You will be asked to authenticate to gain access to the file share.  Please use the following username format “campus\[username - no @]”
