Connecting to Taylor's VPN

If you are working remotely, certain on-campus resources will not be available for security reasons. By using the Taylor VPN, you can gain access to those resources. Once your device is connected, your computer will act as though you are on-campus.

Please note that in order for Single Sign-On to work, you must be using FortiClient version 6.4.9 or newer.


Configuring VPN

  • See here for installation links
  • Once installed, open FortiClient, accept the agreement, and click "Configure VPN"
  • Make sure SSL-VPN is selected
  • For Connection Name, enter Taylor
  • For Remote Gateway, enter vpn.taylor.edu
  • Check the box labeled “Enable Single Sign On (SSO) for VPN Tunnnel”
    • Check the box labeled “Use external browser as user-agent for saml user authentication”
  • Click Save


Connecting to the VPN on Windows

Step 1

  • Find the FortiClient icon on the taskbar. The icon is a blue shield with a white checkmark.

Step 2

  • Right-click the FortiClient icon.
  • Click the 'Connect to "Taylor University"' option.

Step 3

  • When the main FortiClient window appears, you will be prompted to sign into your Taylor account.
  • Complete the login process and FortiClient should connect after a few seconds.

Verification

  • To verify you are connected to Taylor's VPN, in the taskbar the icon for FortiClient should now have a lock on top of the blue shield.

Connecting to the VPN on macOS

Step 1

  • Click on the FortiClient located in the menu bar. The icon looks like a shield.
  • Click 'Connect to Taylor University'

Step 2

  • When the main FortiClient window appears, you will be prompted to sign into your Taylor account.

  • Complete the login process and FortiClient should connect after a few seconds.

Verification

  • To verify you are connected to Taylor's VPN, in the menu bar the icon for FortiClient should now have a lock on top of the shield.
